Lovers of God - His Grace Blog

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Rom 8:28)

Have you ever had a plan, a very big plan or vision and you have work so hard on it or have even dream of achieving something big but somehow it didn’t go according to how you want or plan? Have you envisaged a smooth path for yourself only to find yourself heading an unforeseen direction?

This can be painful or sometimes confusing as the devil step in to give his evil counsel and inject discouragement to such person. All the devil seek at this time is to make you doubt God and lose faith in His promise for your life. The devil would try to make you think your life is wasting and that the promise of God over your life will fail, and trust me he would not stop there until you start judging your life by what is happening in your life and depression set in.  Some at this stage will lose hope and see no more need for their life and suicidal thoughts keeps coming to mind.

If you can relate to that, be encouraged, for God knows everything you are passing through and He has good plans for your life. He has set the end from the beginning and that is why in spite of all this challenges God still says  “I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope and a good future” (Jer 29:11)

All you see may be delay, disappointment, rejection, no job, no money, sickness etc. yet the word of God says “….all things are working out for good to them that love God…” the word ‘all’ means ‘without exception’ and since it’s the word of God then it is true that God has good plans for you. No challenge is going to stay forever for they all have their expiry date. The only constant thing is God and His Promises. But this promise is only to a specific set of people called the lovers of God. This means whoever love God is going to enjoy this promise because they are chosen by God according to His plan. Therefore who are the lovers of God?

“if ye love me, keep my commandments. If a man love me, he will keep my words…” (John 14:15, 21)

The lovers of God are those who keep His commandments. They are those that despite the hurdles of life will keep God’s word.
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come ... lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; (2 Timothy  3:1,4)

Paul writing to Timothy about the Last days and the coming of a time he named perilious times, he clearly stated that one of the signs of this time will be the increase in the number of those who love pleasures rather than God. And as we have seen above from those scriptures it means these people will only seek to please themselves and not God, they will be disobedient to the laws of God and do only what gratify their flesh. And without doubt we are in those days.  Everyday of our lives we are faced with making the decisions that shaped our lives and determined where we will end after this world. Though we are in those days but you should not be part of those who will love pleasure over God. Whatever you are facing called challenges are not what really matter, what really do is that despite all these challenges do you still love God?

Beloved, are you keeping His commandments? Are you keeping His words? Are you a lover of God?
