How to Use the Loins / Belt of Truth

"... having girded your waist with truth..."  Ephesians 6:10-18 (NKJV)
"Then you will experience for yourselves the truth, and the truth will free you."  John 8:32 (MSG-NT)
The belt is a piece of armour worn by the Roman Soldiers on the waist to support the breastplate.

What is Truth?

The truth is telling or saying what actually happened. The truth is the opposite of lie. Truth is associated with Christ while lie is known with the devil.

Satan brought lies to man in the beginning and used it to gain man into his kingdom. However, Jesus came with the truth from God to set man free from the power of lie and deception.

Once someone has accepted Jesus - the truth - as the Saviour into his/her life, he/she must continually dwell in that truth and speak the truth. Psalm 86:11.

There are many lies in the world that the devil is actually portraying as the truth in order to deceive and defeat many Christians.

Benefits of Abiding in the Truth

  1. It brings freedom - John 8:32
  2. It brings knowledge of God. God is known the more.
  3. It brings confidence to stand against the enemy.
  4. It sanctifies - John 17:17
  5. It purifies - I Peter 1:22.
  6. It prevents one from being entangled in erroneous doctrine.

Why is the Truth compared with the Belt / Loins?

The belt in the armor of the Roman soldiers was used to support the breastplate to make it firm. It's also used to tighten up the garment for east moves during battle. Likewise:
  • the truth give us the power and confidence to move anywhere even in the territory of the devil.
  • The truth will not allow us to easily get tired at the warfront.
  • It helps one to stand firm against satanic schemes.

Some Lies the Devil has been using on Ignorant Christians.

  • Jewelries, attachments and make-ups cannot stop someone from making heaven - Rev. 21:27.
  • Having spiritual gifts working in one's life is a guarantee of heaven - 1 Cor. 12:7
  • A-poor-man-Christianity is an outdated version of Christianity - Luke 10:17-20
  • Too much of trouble and affliction is a sign of sin / backsliding - John 16:33.
  • Securing spiritual power / anointing is the peak of Christianity.
  • Sponsoring Church programmes but having no time for God still makes you a Christian.
  • Since God is a merciful God, you can live a way-ward Christian life and still receive God's mercy to earn eternal life.
  • Heaven and hell is not real but both can only be experienced on earth e.g. marriage, profession, etc.
  • Since many other brethren are doing something wrong, joining them is not bad, that God cannot be so cruel enough to sentence majority to Hell.
  • The location you are called to do not matter but doing what you are called to do.

If any of these lies is welcomed by anyone, the person will not have enough stamina to face the enemy.
